The regional ministerial secretary (seremi) of Labor and Social Welfare of Antofagasta, Paola Solari, visited Antofagasta International Terminal (ATI), where she toured the terminal to review its operational processes, safety advancements, and collaborative work with its employees.
The authority was received by the General Manager of ATI, Mark Bindhoff, along with the company's executive team and representatives of the ATI and ATI ESA Port Union Federation, who presented the main processes carried out at the port.
During the tour, the delegation visited sites 4, 5, 6, and 7 of Berth Front N° 2 of the Port of Antofagasta, a 9.85-hectare multipurpose area dedicated to cargo transfer and the development of operations linked to industrial activity.
Solari valued the opportunity to learn, firsthand, about the terminal's operations and ATI's role in the logistics chain for the region's development.
"The main objective of this visit was to get to know the port world, which is of enormous importance for a mining region like Antofagasta. Talking with their team and seeing the work they do on-site allows us to understand ATI's contribution to regional development and continue strengthening joint work between the public sector, the company, and its workers," said the seremi.
For his part, ATI General Manager Mark Bindhoff highlighted that "this visit allows us to showcase the work we have developed together with our unions and union leaders, promoting continuous improvements in safety, operational efficiency, and well-being. We believe that dialogue and collaboration are fundamental to continue strengthening our management and the development of port activity."
The visit concluded with a dialogue session between the authority, executives, and worker representatives, an instance where the main challenges for continuing to promote safe work environments, strengthen collaborative relationships, and contribute to the sustainable development of the logistical-port system of the Antofagasta Region were addressed.
