Blue Economy as a Peruvian Strategy Against El Niño
Peru must strengthen the protection of marine biodiversity and sectors such as fishing and aquaculture in the face of El Niño, according to the director of the Marine Governance Program at SPDA, Jimpson Dávila. Cenepred estimates that more than 9.3 million people would be affected. NOAA projects an 80% probability that the phenomenon will reach a very strong intensity by the end of this year. Dávila proposes incorporating a blue economy approach into the Government's Contingency Plan to strengthen the resilience of strategic sectors.
