The President of Chile, José Antonio Kast, called for countries to "be on time" with the execution of the necessary works and projects to complete the Bioceanic Corridor that will link the ports of the Pacific with those of the Atlantic, passing through Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil.
During his speech at the National Congress of Paraguay, within the framework of his presidential tour to Asunción for the Mercosur agenda, the Chilean President stated that "integration is not just a discourse, but it is real, and we can see that in these agreements we have signed, in the corridor that we hope will soon be operational."
"We cast our votes there so that all countries can be on time with the civil works required so that no bridge is missing. This will also require everyone's effort so that in each of the nations we visit, priority is given, because this contributes to the unity and progress of all our peoples," Kast said.
In this context, the Head of State suggested that with the road initiative, "a new perspective opens up, which is the union of countries not only through a highway, because this is much more than a highway, it is much more than a corridor, these are networks that allow us to look towards the Atlantic, for you to look towards the Pacific, uniting both oceans. But not only with commercial issues, but also, facing the future with digital connectivity, with energy connectivity, with air and land transport connectivity."
The Chilean President's visit also provided an opportunity for him and his Paraguayan counterpart, Santiago Peña, to sign bilateral agreements. Kast valued the agreements signed with Paraguay and described them as "very important steps," especially highlighting the progress of the Bioceanic Corridor.
In a joint statement, both leaders agreed to "continue promoting the Bioceanic Road Corridor as strategic infrastructure to connect the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, generate investments, strengthen logistics, and create new development opportunities for the region."
It should be noted that, also during his stay in Paraguay, Kast met with the German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, to address, among other topics, security related to the development of the logistical axis that will unite the two oceans by land.
