The Port of Itajaí received approval from the Maritime Authority, through the Port Authority of Itajaí, confirming the resumption of the operational draft of the access channel to the port complex.
The approval represents the official validation of measurements carried out in recent weeks, which already indicated the recovery of the channel's operational conditions. The data was sent to the Port Authority and subjected to technical analysis, resulting in the confirmation of the full resumption of the operational draft.
In recent weeks and months, the Port of Itajaí carried out significant maintenance on the access channel, ensuring the restoration of the necessary conditions for safe navigation. With the approval, the channel currently has no limitations related to the operational draft.
"This approval confirms the technical work that had been carried out by the Port of Itajaí. We had already resumed the operational draft several weeks ago, with measurements demonstrating that condition, and now we have received official validation from the Maritime Authority. This means that our access channel is without any type of draft limitation and fully navigable," highlighted the Superintendent of the Port of Itajaí, Artur Antunes Pereira.
The port clarifies that the eventual impracticability of the bar is not related to the operational draft of the channel. This condition can occur due to momentary weather events, such as increased current, wind, or other situations that may compromise navigation safety.
In such cases, the temporary suspension of vessel entry and exit maneuvers is a preventive measure, adopted by the Maritime Authority, with the monitoring of the Pilotage and the port's operational teams.
