The Port of Santander received a visit from the Ambassador of China to Spain, Yao Jing. The objective of the meeting was to deepen commercial ties between the Cantabrian port and the Asian giant.
Details of Jing's visit were provided on the website of the Port Authority of Santander (APS), which reported that "the diplomat, who has shown special interest in the strategic role of the Santander dock in car traffic, visited the main infrastructures destined for this merchandise and learned about the APS's development plans in this area."
Regarding wheeled traffic, the APS assured that investments and improvements are being made in the port's infrastructure to strengthen ties with markets such as China, noting that "the expansion of the car silo, the improvement of railway connectivity, the ramp for wheeled traffic (Ro-Ro) at Raos 7, the Raos 9 dock, as well as the heel and ramp for this infrastructure, and the creation of new logistics activity areas such as the curvilinear triangle, which has made 37,000 new square meters available for this traffic, and the Santander Transport City (CITRASA), which will do the same with another 100,000 square meters."
César Díaz, president of the APS, stated that "these qualities make us ideal for establishing new forms of cooperation between the logistics hub that Cantabria offers and the Chinese market. We are also a hardworking, friendly, and trustworthy partner, and I am sure that we can reach mutually beneficial agreements," he concluded.
