The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) announced that Jean-Jacques Ruest has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors for a two-year term, effective July 1, 2026.
Ruest brings over 40 years of experience in leadership positions across the transportation, logistics, international trade, and chemical manufacturing sectors.
Widely recognized for his expertise in the freight rail, intermodal, and port sectors, he previously served as CEO, President, and Chief Marketing Officer at CN Rail.
The new Chairman of the Board holds a degree in Applied Chemistry from the University of Sherbrooke, an MBA in Marketing from HEC Montréal, and has completed the Executive Business Program at the University of Michigan. Additionally, he received the Railway Innovator Award in 2021 and was inducted into the International Maritime Hall of Fame in 2017.
"JJ brings experience and passion for building strong and resilient transportation networks. As important projects are set to launch in the next 18 months, which will strengthen the Port of Prince Rupert's role in supporting the Canadian economy, I am confident that JJ will provide sound guidance and strong leadership as Chairman, helping us shape the next chapter of the Port's growth and success," stated Kurt Slocombe, President and CEO of the Prince Rupert Port Authority.
