Costa Rica and Ecuador Implement Bilateral Trade Agreement

Costa Rica and Ecuador held the first meeting of the Administrative Commission of the Commercial Association Agreement, the body responsible for overseeing the implementation of the treaty. The meeting reaffirmed both countries' commitment to strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

During the meeting, procedures for the Commission's operation and dispute resolution mechanisms were approved, aimed at providing greater legal certainty. Authorities also pushed for the implementation of pending commitments to facilitate the utilization of the agreement by the productive and export sectors.

In 2025, bilateral trade reached USD 123 million, and Ecuador solidified its position as the third destination for Costa Rican exports to South America. The strengthening of the agreement will favor regional trade, the integration of logistics chains, and the development of new opportunities for both markets.
