Ports of Acajutla and La Unión Register Growth in Cargo Movement

The ports of Acajutla and La Unión registered growth in cargo movement and operations between January 1 and July 26, 2026, compared to the same period in 2025.

During these seven months, there was an increase in vessel calls, container movement, and vehicle mobilization, reflecting the performance of port activity in El Salvador.

The Port of Acajutla, the country's main port, recorded a 25.45% growth in the movement of metric tons of cargo, driven by increased import and export trade.

In the same period, it served 218 vessels, 37 more than the previous year, representing a 20.44% increase.

For its part, the Port of La Unión registered a 60% increase in vehicle mobilization.

Between January 1 and July 26, 2026, it served 62 vessels, 21 more than in the same period of 2025, including vessels specialized in vehicle transport, general cargo vessels, bulk carriers, cruise ships, and tuna vessels, expanding the activity of this terminal.
