Dublin: €9.5 Million Drug Seizures in Port Operations

Irish authorities conducted two significant operations at Dublin Port, resulting in the seizure of cannabis and cocaine with a combined value exceeding €9.5 million. Both actions are part of the ongoing efforts by Revenue and law enforcement agencies to combat organized crime and the trafficking of illegal drugs in the country.

On July 25, 2026, in a joint intelligence-led operation involving the Revenue Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), approximately 392 kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €7.84 million, was seized. The drug was detected during specific controls within the port area, and investigations are ongoing.

A day earlier, on July 24, Revenue officials at the same port confiscated approximately 24.5 kg of cocaine, valued at over €1.7 million. The illicit substance was discovered during routine operations, with the assistance of detector dog Darcy and Revenue's mobile X-ray scanner, when officers inspected a refrigerated container originating from Rotterdam. This case also remains under investigation.

Revenue emphasized that these seizures are part of their ongoing operations aimed at disrupting organized crime groups and curbing the importation, sale, and distribution of illegal drugs. Furthermore, they urged businesses and citizens with information related to smuggling activities to contact them confidentially through their contact channels.
