Shannon Foynes Port Company announced that it has received a Maritime Area Consent (MAC) from the Irish authorities, in accordance with the Maritime Area Planning Act 2021, for the proposed Foynes Island Deepwater Development project.
The consent pertains to the development of new port infrastructure, including a deepwater berth, a new road bridge connecting the island to the existing Port of Foynes development, and associated infrastructure works.
This represents a significant step forward in the execution of a strategically important project that will strengthen Ireland's port infrastructure, support economic development, improve connectivity, and help position the Shannon Estuary as a leading hub for maritime trade and future offshore renewable energy activity.
"We want to acknowledge the dedication and collaboration of our team, stakeholders, and partners who have contributed to achieving this important milestone," stated Shannon Foynes Port Company.
