Russia Celebrates Naming of Second Arctic LNG Carrier
Russia marked the naming of its second Arctic LNG carrier, the Konstantin Posyet, at the Zvezda Shipyard on June 18. The vessel, with a capacity of 172,600 cubic meters of LNG and ARC 7 ice class rating, is part of a major building program supporting the Arctic 2 LNG plant and expanding shipping on the Northern Sea Route. The project, launched before the Ukraine war, originally called for 21 ice-class carriers, though it has faced challenges and delays due to Western sanctions.
