Maersk informed its customers that it will apply a temporary fuel surcharge to land shipments destined for the Nordic region, due to the blockage of fuel supply in the Middle East and the consequent increase in resource prices.
"We are closely monitoring the evolving situation in the Middle East and want to inform you about its implications for your land shipments and our services in the Nordic region," the shipping company stated.
"Due to the blockage of fuel supply in the Middle East, there has been a considerable increase in fuel prices, which has led to a temporary fuel/energy surcharge for land shipments in the Nordic region, which will apply to all land shipments destined for the Nordic region until further notice," the company explained.
According to details provided by Maersk, the surcharge will be implemented starting next August 5, 2026, for all Store Door shipments. The countries that will be affected by the surcharge are Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania with percentages ranging from 4%, as in the case of Lithuania, up to 18%, as in the case of Estonia.
"Currently, solutions for electric vehicles (electric trucks) and railways are not affected, but we will continue to monitor the situation. The percentage will be updated weekly if there are any changes," Maersk indicated.
