The Malta-flagged containership CNC Uranus ran aground after it struck a buoy while entering Chittagong Port in Bangladesh on 3 August. No injuries or pollution were reported.

The incident occurred at around 2:15 pm local time near Red Buoy No. 2, near the entrance to the Karnaphuli River. According to the Chittagong Port Secretary, the vessel suffered a steering gear malfunction while entering the port channel. Despite the incident, the vessel traffic through the port channel remained normal.
Two port tugboats, Kandari-4 and Kandari-11, along with the Navy and Coast Guard, arrived to assist the distressed vessel. The vessel refloated at around 7 pm local time and is currently at Chittagong Anchorage.
CNC Uranus is a 2017-built containership that measures 169.98 meters in length and 28.15 meters in width. At the time of the incident, the vessel was carrying 1,282 TEUs of containers from Shekou Port in China.
