The Port of Kiel (Seehafen Kiel Verwaltungs) expanded its management team as of July 1, 2026, when Jörg Demuth was appointed as a second managing director, alongside Dr. Dirk Claus. Both are authorized to represent the company individually.
Demuth has over two decades of experience in the port sector. He has been part of the Port of Kiel since 2006, has been managing director of Seehafen Kiel Stevedoring since 2007, and an authorized signatory of Seehafen Kiel since 2010.
Going forward, within the management team, he will be responsible, in particular, for the operational activities of the Port of Kiel. Claus continues as Chairman of the Board of Management and is responsible for marketing, commercial administration, human resources, technology, legal affairs, and IT, as well as the strategic direction of the company.
"Jörg Demuth has played a fundamental role in the development of the Port of Kiel in recent years. We have been working closely together for almost 20 years, with great trust, and we share the same vision for the future of our port. I am very much looking forward to continuing to work with the management team," said Dirk Claus.
Demuth himself added, "I would like to thank the boards of directors and shareholders for the trust they have placed in me. The Port of Kiel has developed very successfully in recent years. I am looking forward to taking on this new role and working alongside Dr. Claus and our team to help shape the future of the port even more effectively."
Louisa Wiethold, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, emphasized that "the challenges facing the Port of Kiel are becoming increasingly complex. Therefore, expanding the management team is an important step. Dr. Dirk Claus and Jörg Demuth complement each other perfectly thanks to their experience and expertise. I am pleased that Jörg Demuth is taking on this new responsibility alongside Dr. Claus. This provides a great impetus for the future development of the Port of Kiel."
By expanding its management team, the Port of Kiel strengthens its management structure and lays the groundwork for further expanding its role as a high-performance port, logistics, and infrastructure hub.
