The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) and the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB) announced the expansion of Freedom Intermodal Tank Services' operations in eastern New Orleans with the opening of a new bulk liquid packaging facility.
This investment expands Freedom Intermodal's capabilities by incorporating a fully automated bulk liquid packaging system, designed for the precise filling of drums and containers, creating a comprehensive and seamless logistics solution for bulk liquid shippers. Located adjacent to the company's existing operations on France Rd. Parkway, the facility integrates packaging, storage, transshipment, warehousing, heating, blending, cleaning, and road and rail transport into a single logistics platform.
This expansion leverages one of the region's greatest competitive advantages: direct connectivity to the Port of New Orleans, the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad, and the six Class I rail lines serving North America.
"At Port NOLA, our mission is to provide seamless connectivity and first-class infrastructure that drives economic growth throughout Louisiana and beyond. The expansion of Freedom Intermodal is a clear example of how strategic private sector investment, combined with the unparalleled multimodal connectivity offered by Port NOLA and NOPB, creates new opportunities for businesses to transport their products more efficiently," stated Beth Branch, President and CEO of the Port of New Orleans and CEO of the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad.
Freedom Intermodal specializes in the transport and handling of bulk liquids and ISO tanks, including rail-to-truck and truck-to-rail transshipment, storage, heating, blending, cleaning, and transportation services. The addition of bulk liquid packaging capabilities allows customers to package, store, and distribute products from a single location, reducing handling, improving efficiency, and optimizing operations.
The facilities consist of a state-of-the-art warehouse, with 38 loading and unloading docks, a covered area for trucks and trains, material heating and blending, an in-transit storage yard with capacity for 450 railcars, an owned truck fleet, and four acres of storage and trailer parking area. Located just seven miles from the Port of New Orleans and one mile from Interstate 10, the site is strategically positioned to serve customers transporting products by rail, truck, barge, and ship.
The Port of New Orleans is the only deepwater port in the United States connected to all six major rail lines via NOPB.
