Shandong Port Group Opens New Rizhao-Incheon Container Route

The container shipping route between the ports of Rizhao and Incheon, operated by Shandong Port Group (SPG), has received official approval from the governments of China and South Korea. This marks the reopening, after more than two decades, of a direct container transport connection between Shandong and Incheon.

This route will meet the growing regional trade demand while supporting Shandong's development as a first-class port cluster and an efficient international logistics network.

In recent years, Shandong Port Group (SPG) has consolidated its position as an important transportation hub and has leveraged Shandong's strategic position within the framework of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) to expand its services to Japan, South Korea, and ASEAN. It has also continued to improve its maritime transport network, optimizing operational and customs efficiency through close collaboration with partner ports and deepening its presence in international markets through its representative office in South Korea.

The new service will be operated by Shandong Ocean Shipping Group, a professional shipping company belonging to SPG. Currently, the company operates 12 weekly services to major South Korean ports, including Pyeongtaek, Busan, Incheon, and Jeju.

The Rizhao-Incheon route, scheduled to start in the fourth quarter, will offer two fixed sailings per week to meet the rapid transport needs of cross-border e-commerce, machinery, automobiles, and other high-value goods.

Shandong Ocean Shipping Group and the Port of Rizhao will collaborate to make the route a premium service and further strengthen the China-South Korea logistics corridor.
