The Board of Directors of Nurminen Logistics and its CEO, Olli Pohjanvirta, have reached an agreement on the planned transition in general management. The executive will continue as CEO until December 31, 2026, and will subsequently act as an advisor to his successor during the agreed transition period to ensure a controlled management handover.
Pohjanvirta will continue to serve in his current roles as a member of the boards of directors of Nurminen Logistics and its subsidiary, North Rail.
The handover is based on the shared vision of the Board of Directors and Pohjanvirta regarding the company's long-term succession planning and support for the next phase of Nurminen Logistics' growth.
The company is in a strong position to continue driving growth in international rail logistics services. Nurminen Logistics has made progress in its expansion into Sweden and Western Europe, in line with its strategy, leveraging the scalable modular train concept developed by the company. The high quality of its services, strong customer relationships, and skilled personnel form a solid foundation for future growth and competitiveness.
"During Pohjanvirta's tenure as CEO, the company's financial situation has strengthened, and its profitability has been among the best in the industry. I would like to thank Olli for his contribution to implementing important business transformation processes that have made the company Finland's most international logistics company, with excellent future growth prospects," stated Irmeli Rytkönen, Chair of the Board of Directors.
"Nurminen Logistics now has a clear focus on growth in Western Europe, a broad customer portfolio, the necessary resources, and a qualified team to drive the company's development. I believe this is the opportune time to hand over operational responsibility to my successor and continue to support the company as a member of the Board of Directors," said Pohjanvirta himself.
