The Bioceanic Road Corridor entered a new stage in Paraguay, after asphalting began between the towns of Cruce Don Silvio and Pozo Hondo, following the completion of the embankment formation.
The progress is considered key to completing the road connection of the Paraguayan Chaco with Argentina and strengthening the strategic route for cargo transport and regional integration that will link the ports of the Pacific, in Chile, with those of the Atlantic, in Brazil.
The tasks are concentrated on Lot 4 of route PY15, whose structure is designed to withstand the high demands of international traffic. The technical package includes three layers of soil cement, on which a 7-centimeter asphalt base and a 6-centimeter wearing course are placed.
"We have the embankment finished, drainage works at 99%, and we are making strong progress with the structural package of three layers of soil cement, starting the 7-centimeter black base and the final 6-centimeter wearing course," highlighted Carlos Vaché, technical supervision engineer.
The completion of the lot will facilitate transit to Pozo Hondo, on the border with Argentina, and will contribute to reducing distances and logistical costs. Through this corridor, Paraguay will expand its connection with the ports of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, generating better conditions for trade and production.
This is the third section of the Bioceanic Route in Paraguayan territory, promoted by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), which comprises 224 kilometers of highway PY15 distributed in four lots between Mariscal Estigarribia and the border with Argentina. Lot 4 covers approximately 52 kilometers and is managed by the TCR Consortium.
