Santander, May 27, 2026. The president of the Port Authority of Santander (APS), César Díaz, highlighted this morning that these double calls are a result "of the significant increase in the number of cruise ships planned for this year."
In this regard, Santander Cruise Deluxe – the brand created by the Government of Cantabria, the Santander City Council, and the Port itself for organizing calls and promoting cruise tourism – anticipates a historic season for cruise tourism with 38 calls and over 60,000 tourists.
Díaz recalled that Cantabria is "a great destination for this type of holiday, both for its tourist attractions and for the convenience of docking right in the center of Santander" and that it still has "very significant" room for growth.
The objective, according to the APS president, is for Santander to be "the reference port for premium cruises in northern Spain," while also committing "to the deseasonalization of tourism in the region."
The Ventura, belonging to P&O Cruises and consigned by Pérez y Cía, arrived early this morning at the Maritime Station, located at Almirante Pier, with 3,300 passengers —mainly British— and a crew of 1,200 people. This vessel is scheduled to make eight calls in Santander this year.
A large portion of the tourists enjoying this cruise are taking advantage of various excursions and tourist activities throughout different parts of the region, in addition to exploring Santander and enjoying its gastronomic and cultural offerings.
The ship, which is 289 meters long, will remain docked in the city until five in the afternoon, at which point it will depart for La Rochelle, having arrived from Gijón.
Meanwhile, the cruise ship World Voyager, from Mystic Cruises, docked at midday in the Cantabrian basin with 200 passengers and 125 crew members on board and is scheduled to continue its journey to Bilbao. The ship, which is 126 meters long, is consigned by NOATUM.
Upcoming Calls
During the first week of June, the Port of Santander will again host the Ventura, from P&O Cruises, on the 1st, and the Amera, from Phoenix Reisen, on the 3rd.
In addition to being a member of associations such as CLIA or Cruise Europe and participating in specialized international fairs like Seatrade Miami, Seatrade Europe, or the International Cruise Summit, Santander Cruise Deluxe maintains intense promotional activity throughout the year through actions such as familiarization trips with cruise lines, development of new tourist experiences, digitalization campaigns, and the creation of specific promotional material for the cruise sector.
