The Comoros-flagged cargo vessel Sitthaa suffered flooding in multiple compartments off Tiruchendur coast in India, on June 27 prompting immediate response from the Indian Coast Guard. All the crew were reported safe in the incident.

Following the alert, the Indian Coast Guard dispatched the ICG ship Atulya, to assist the distress vessel. A specialist boarding team worked alongside salvage experts to oversee emergency repairs and dewatering operations and successfully bring the flooding under control.
Following the operation, the 58-meter long vessel arrived at Tuticorin Port on 28 June to undergo permanent repairs. The Coast Guard remained in close coordination with the captain of vessel, the port authorities and salvage company to ensure the safety of the crew, the vessel and the environment.
