Chilean Navy Carries Out Medical Air Evacuation of Crew Member in the Strait of Magellan
The Chilean Navy conducted an emergency aeromedical rescue operation at the western mouth of the Strait of Magellan to evacuate a Filipino crew member from the Marshall Islands-flagged vessel Vela. The Naval Helicopter N-57 of the Southern Aeronaval Group performed the evacuation maneuver under favorable weather conditions. The patient was transferred to Punta Arenas and delivered to the helipad of the Magallanes Clinical Hospital in stable condition.
