A fire broke out aboard the Platform Habitat, an offshore natural gas platform operated by DCOR. All crew members are reported to be safe.

The fire reportedly started at 6:30 a.m. local time while crews were conducting decommissioning operations on the platform.
A multi-agency response was quickly launched. The U.S. Coast Guard, Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Santa Barbara City Fire Department, Ventura County Fire Department, Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol, and other agencies responded to the scene.
The fire was extinguished by 11:40 a.m. All 26 crew members were safely rescued, and no injuries were reported. A 1,000-yard safety zone was established around the platform, and firefighting operations are continuing. There have been no reports of pollution from the incident.
The Platform Habitat is an offshore facility located approximately 7.8 miles off the California coast in about 290 feet of water. The platform was installed in 1981 and began production in 1983. It currently has 24 well slots.
The cause of the fire remains unclear. An investigation has been opened into the incident.
