On May 8, PortosRio held the signing ceremony of the Technical Cooperation Agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and the official presentation of the Joatinga boat, a new vessel that will reinforce the security and inspection operations of the Port Guard in the organized port areas, at the Port Authority's auditorium.
The boat, which belonged to MAPA, was transferred by the Ministry to PortosRio's Port Guard, and the ceremony had the support of the Union of Port Operators of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Sindoperj), bringing together authorities and representatives from the port sector.
During the event, PortosRio's President-Director, Flavio Vieira, highlighted the national recognition of the Port Guard's performance and the importance of the new vessel to enhance security in port areas. "The Port Guard is the pride of PortosRio. Recently, at a port security event in Recife, I heard from several professionals in the sector that PortosRio's Port Guard is one of the most active in Brazil. This fills us with pride and reinforces that we are on the right track," he stated.
Flavio Vieira also emphasized that the delivery of the Joatinga represents another advance in investments aimed at port security. "We are working to have increasingly safe, efficient, and agile ports," he added.
The Superintendent of PortosRio's Port Guard, Jorge Dantas, stated that the vessel represents a significant expansion of the Port Guard's operational capacity. "This was an old dream of ours. The Joatinga will expand our aquatic inspection activities and strengthen integrated work among the agencies involved in port security," he highlighted.
According to Dantas, the vessel had been inoperative for years and was recovered thanks to the collaboration between partner agencies such as the Rio de Janeiro Port Authority (CPRJ/MB). After the ceremony, participants observed the inaugural inspection of the boat and its first operational procedures.
The Joatinga will be used in patrolling, inspection, and operational support actions in the aquatic areas managed by PortosRio, contributing to the strengthening of port security and operations in the ports under the company's administration.
