The President of Honduras, Nasry Asfura, supervised the progress of the USD 624 million investment plan being carried out in Puerto Cortés by the concessionaire Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana.
This initiative aims to modernize the country's main maritime terminal, increase its operational capacity, and strengthen Honduras' competitiveness in international trade.
The investment includes the acquisition of new gantry cranes and the modernization of docks 4 and 5, key infrastructure to optimize port operations, improve vessel service, and respond to the growth of foreign trade. The execution of these works is expected to conclude by the end of 2027.
As part of the working day, the president held a meeting with the manager of the National Port Company (ENP), Yaudet Burbara, representatives of Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana (OPC), and executives from Banco Ficohsa, with whom he reviewed the development of the works and the fulfillment of the established project schedule.
The Honduran Government indicated that it reaffirms its commitment to support investments that drive the country's development, generate employment, and strengthen national strategic infrastructure.
The modernization of Puerto Cortés represents a fundamental step to consolidate Honduras as a leading logistics hub in the region and promote greater opportunities for economic growth, it was added from the Central American country's Government House.
