Within the framework of the Second University Work Fair "Fostering Connection and Quality," the Empresa Portuaria Chacabuco (Emporcha) reaffirmed its role as a strategic partner in the technical and professional development of the Aysén Region. The state-owned company actively participated in the III Alumni and Employers Meeting convened by the University of Aysén (UAysén), an event aimed at sharing the progress of the Institutional Self-Assessment Process with a view to its 2026 accreditation process before the National Accreditation Commission (CNA).
The working day, led by the university's directives, allowed for an analysis of institutional evolution between 2023 and 2025 in key dimensions such as the relevance of study plans, infrastructure, connection with the environment, and the mechanisms for graduates' labor insertion into the regional productive fabric.
Alliance
During the meeting, Emporcha's General Manager, Felipe Candia, highlighted the value of the Alumni Network and consolidated the port company's commitment to the new generations of professionals in the southern zone.
"As an internal policy, we always want to have a position available, either for a thesis project or for someone who needs an internship from the University of Aysén. This is a commitment we have acquired internally, and in this way, we want to embody the collaboration agreement we have," stated the state company's executive.
Candia also projected this link towards the co-design of solutions for the challenges of the maritime and extra-port logistics industry, opening the door to the participation of the academic community in optimizing the terminal.
"Due to the nature of the activity we carry out, we sometimes require technical support in data or in the development of methodologies that allow for more efficient management, and we hope in the future to also involve university academics and other students to provide us with support in these types of tasks," he emphasized.
Connection
The meeting coincided with the welcome of 15 new professionals selected through regional labor insertion programs, who are joining public service networks and companies. The Directorate of Connection with the Environment and the Directorate of Quality of UAysén thanked the support of employers in the productive sector, highlighting that their feedback is a fundamental pillar for quality assurance processes and the relevance of the academic offerings.
It should be noted that, within the framework of the University of Aysén's Labor Insertion Program, Francia Paredes, an Industrial Civil Engineer, a graduate of said institution, is currently working. This professional is supporting the technical pre-feasibility study for the implementation of a hybrid model for generating renewable energy within the port.
With its participation in these instances, Emporcha consolidates its position not only as the main logistical and economic driver of the southern macro-zone but also as a public institution committed to retaining qualified human capital, boosting regional competitiveness hand in hand with Aysén's main higher education institution.
