The bulk carrier Banglar Arjan, from Bangladesh, has sailed from Tandanor, a shipyard and naval repair workshop located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after completing a technical intervention focused on the repair of its propulsion system.
"The vessel, 180 meters long and 32 meters wide, entered the Syncrolift through a precision maneuver executed by specialized personnel from the area. The operation represented a technical challenge due to the dimensions of the vessel and the available operating margin, considering that the platform has a width of 32.90 meters," the Argentine company reported.
The main work carried out was related to the repair of the propeller, whose damage had motivated the vessel's entry into the shipyard. To carry out the intervention, it was necessary to completely disassemble the device and measure the shaft line drop.
Subsequently, the part was transferred to Shed No. 36 of the Almirante Storni Shipyard, where repair and static balancing tasks were performed. The work included the recovery of two of the propeller blades and various technical verifications on the assembly.
Non-destructive testing (NDT) was also carried out on the propeller blades, both before and after their repair, along with technical inspections of the assembly.
In parallel, hull and hold thickness measurements were performed according to the owner's requirements and under the standards of the classification society Bureau Veritas, with the corresponding technical report being prepared in IACS format.
The final stage of the work included low-pressure washing of the propeller, cementing of the cap bolts, and maintenance and painting tasks on the draft marks on both sides of the vessel.
