The Island Evolution, currently NB 977, for Island Offshore arrived at Vard Langsten, in Norway, marking an important milestone on its way to construction completion. After departing from the Vard Romania-Braila shipyards at the end of June, the vessel continued to the Vard Romania-Tulcea shipyards, where the hull was connected to the main tug before beginning the journey to Norway.
At Vard Langsten, the Ocean Energy Construction Vessel (OECV) will now enter its final outfitting and completion phase.
The NB 977 is a vessel powered by VARD 3 25 design hybrid engines, developed to support offshore operations with greater efficiency and a reduced environmental footprint.
As part of the Fincantieri Group, the shipyard combines advanced technology with sustainable solutions, ensuring the vessel will be well-suited to meet the evolving demands of the offshore energy sector.
Island Offshore announced that it expects the first of two sister vessels to be completed at Vard Langsten to be delivered in January 2027.
