Damen Shipyards Delivers Second CSOV 9020 Vessel to TSSM for Wind Farms in Taiwan

Damen Shipyards Group launched the second of a series of two Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOV) 9020 for Ta San Shang Marine (TSSM).

The company, a joint venture between Japan's Mitsui OSK Lines and Taiwan's Ta Tong Marine, will use the vessels to support the construction and maintenance activities of offshore wind farms in Taiwanese waters.

When delivered in early 2027, the CSOV 9020, which will be named TSS Challenger, will join the Damen-built TSS Cruiser in the company's fleet. Damen is constructing the vessel in Ha Long, Vietnam.

Damen's CSOV 9020 is also designed in accordance with the requirements of the offshore energy sector. The vessel's hull shape ensures exceptional seakeeping and stability, providing comfort for up to 120 crew members on board.

The optimized hull of the vessel also results in lower fuel consumption. This, coupled with the CSOV 9020's hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system, offers a considerable reduction in emissions.

To ensure the vessel remains relevant in the years to come, the CSOV 9020 is being further prepared for future operation with (green) methanol.
