Arctic Tern is built by China Merchants Jinlin Shipyard (Nanjing), the vessel is the first of six 9,300 CET car carriers that Wallenius Wilhelmsen first ordered in late 2023. It is the first vessel in Wallenius Wilhelmsen's Shaper class and features improved fuel efficiency, operational flexibility, and new onboard technologies designed to enhance overall performance.
The vessel is dual-fuel capable and methanol-ready. It is expected to complete its first methanol bunkering in the near future.
The new ship will enter service on the Asia-Europe route, operating for EUKOR Car Carriers, a joint venture between Hyundai and Wallenius Wilhelmsen.
