Terminales Marítimos de la Patagonia (TMP) has officially commenced operations at its new Terminal 2 (T2). The launch occurred after the first commercial vessel called at the new facilities.
This comprehensive project is part of an expansion plan driven by the construction of a second pier and the habilitation of an additional 4 paved hectares.
With this infrastructure, the company doubled its transfer capacity to exceed 2 million tons annually, strengthening service to its current bulk, wood chip, and protein clients, and enabling the pier to handle container operations in the future.
According to TMP, the development of Terminal 2 responds to the sustained growth it has registered since its inception in 2014 and addresses a historical gap in the southern macro-zone, whose industries have traditionally depended on ports located more than 600 kilometers away. Proximity to productive areas is enhanced by the port's direct connection to Route 5 South, which significantly streamlines transit times and provides greater speed and fluidity to the entire logistics flow.
Likewise, the T2 infrastructure is directly articulated with a 21-hectare Logistics Center and 65,000 square meters of warehouses, which acts as a natural extension of our clients' logistics chains by offering key services for cargo collection, storage, preparation, and dispatch. This integration not only reduces costs, emissions, and rigidities in the supply chain but also optimizes the region's productive processes, according to the company.
In addition to this strategic advantage, an additional investment of USD 5 million was made in technology and equipment for greater efficiency in yard and vessel operations, and the digitalization of operational processes, offering a robust, secure, and comprehensive logistics solution, even for cargo originating from southern Argentina.
