The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Siemens to collaborate on structured pilot initiatives, capacity building programs, and operational technology integration tests designed to enhance the port's performance.
The document was signed by PTP Chief Executive Officer, Mark Hardiman, and President and CEO of Siemens Malaysia, Tindaro Danze.
Dato' Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Group Chief Executive Officer of MMC Port Holdings Berhad, commented that the partnership is a cornerstone of PTP's commitment to providing world-class service to its business partners and global customers.
"By collaborating with Siemens on their cutting-edge technology, we ensure that PTP remains at the forefront of logistics innovation, providing our customers with the reliability, speed, and efficiency they need in an increasingly complex business environment," the executive pointed out.
In this regard, Mark Hardiman added that "this collaboration with Siemens supports PTP's ambition to improve terminal efficiency and resilience through the application of technology. By testing and implementing digital solutions in real operational environments, we can better prepare the port for future trade growth and evolving customer needs."
The collaboration will focus on workforce capability development and technical training to prepare staff for human-automated hybrid environments, while also implementing pilot projects such as smart asset tracking and energy optimization to assess scalability and return on investment in a real port environment.
Furthermore, the alliance seeks to improve equipment reliability through integrated asset lifecycle management strategies and enhanced service level support frameworks.
