Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI), a terminal operated by Hanseatic Global Terminals, has incorporated a state-of-the-art tide gauge into its maritime monitoring system. This technology will optimize the management and planning of port operations, thereby continuing to improve its service.
The equipment provides highly precise real-time information on key variables such as wave height and direction, pressure, tide level, currents, and temperature, among other indicators fundamental for the safe and efficient operation of the terminal.
The installation of the tide gauge took two days, involving coordinated work between ITI's Information Technology team, the supplier company, and specialized divers. They mounted the instrument at a depth of 21 meters, ensuring its correct operation under demanding maritime conditions.
One of the main innovations of the equipment is the integration of a UV light in the sensor head. This technology prevents the adherence of marine flora and fauna, thus guaranteeing the quality and continuity of the collected data.
Ignacio Méndez, ITI's Head of Systems, highlighted that "renewing the tide gauge allows us to access much more precise and timely data, which is fundamental for operational decision-making and coordination with stakeholders such as the Maritime Authority."
According to the concessionaire, the data generated by this system not only benefits ITI's internal planning but is also available to the Maritime Authority, strengthening coordination and the management of port traffic.
