Iquique International Terminal (ITI), a facility managed by Hanseatic Global Terminals, has made a new advance in its modernization process with the reception of three state-of-the-art Kalmar Ottawa truck tractors, which will soon be incorporated into operations.
The equipment was unloaded from the vessel Polar Chile at berth 4. Their integration represents an investment exceeding USD 600,000, forming part of the investment and renewal plan promoted by the company to optimize operational efficiency and reinforce safety standards.
ITI General Manager, Rodrigo Pommiez, highlighted that "the integration of these new pieces of equipment reflects our ongoing commitment to the continuous improvement of our operations. These investments directly impact the efficiency, safety, and quality of the service we provide to our clients."
"In the last year, we have developed a modernization plan with the incorporation of mobile cranes, container handlers, and now these tractors, and soon we will also add 100% electric container handlers, moving towards a more sustainable operation," added the general manager of the port terminal.
The new tractors have been designed to facilitate maintenance and repair tasks, reducing intervention times and improving operational continuity. Additionally, they feature cabins with optimized ergonomics, greater visibility, and improved protection conditions, contributing to a safer and more efficient operation for workers.
