Seacape and Puerto Ventanas (PVSA), a subsidiary of the Sigdo Koppers group, inaugurated a new logistics center in Puchuncaví to provide comprehensive port services for Chile's metallurgical and manufacturing industries. It consists of a 3,000 m2 cargo storage and dispatch warehouse, with different accesses that allow for logistical efficiency in steel operations.
The inauguration of the new infrastructure, named La Chocota, after one of Puchuncaví's 22 localities, is the result of the joint work both companies have carried out to achieve a long-term strategic alliance that will optimize steel distribution to the main productive sectors of the country's central zone.
During the inauguration ceremony, Jorge Oyarce Santibáñez, General Manager of PVSA, valued the trust placed by Seacape and highlighted that this project also represents a significant advance in the port's 2030 Challenge.
"This new infrastructure reflects the execution of our cargo diversification strategy. We are pleased to consolidate ourselves, from Puchuncaví, together with Seacape, as a multipurpose platform for Chile and the world with a team of workers prepared and committed to operational excellence and sustainability," said Oyarce.
For his part, Ricardo Vergara San Martín, Director of Seacape Latam, valued the alliance developed with PVSA and the potential it generates for the national manufacturing industry.
"We are moving ahead to offer the steel industry a real, efficient, and international standard alternative that ensures Chile's progress does not stop. We designed a cutting-edge logistics model that allows moving more cargo in fewer trips. With this, we ensure operational continuity, generate real fuel savings, and directly reduce the carbon footprint in the region," he explained.
"PVSA leaves its doors open for it to become the gateway for all steels coming from different parts of the world, so this inauguration is the tip of the iceberg," added Vergara.
Vergara elaborated that Ventanas "is a strategically perfect port: its location in the region is unbeatable for the entry of steel and it has the optimal conditions to seamlessly integrate the entire chain, from maritime unloading and covered storage, to excellent land logistics, directly to the client's doors."
"Chile needs to strongly develop its foreign trade, therefore, this milestone allows us to provide services to our country and strengthen the development of ports," remarked Juan Eduardo Errázuriz, Chairman of the Board of PVSA.
