The San Antonio Haulers' Guild Association (Agreportsai) proposed activating a fourth work shift to unblock the conflict arising from difficulties in implementing the reduction of the workday to 42 hours at the DP World San Antonio terminal.
Manuel Araya, president of Agreportsai, stated that "it is a very serious problem that is affecting all of us. We have a serious problem at the DP World terminal, and counting all the dead times, there is a loss of eight to nine hours that affects transporters."
"This is something unresolved with the 42 hours. I was talking with the company manager, and one of the solutions that we, as transporters, found, is to activate a fourth shift, because we have already accumulated more than nine hours of production loss. This not only harms truckers but also DP World. The port should already have a fourth shift," said Manuel Araya.
The president of Agreportsai explained that "now they are stopping at 4:50 AM and operations begin at 8:30 or 9:00 AM, and only then are trucks allowed to enter. That means four hours of dead time, which is just a loss for us. In addition, we have to deduct the three meal breaks and shift changes. So, adding it up, there are eight or nine hours lost throughout the day."
"They have to discuss it, solve it, perhaps with the ministry. Here we have highlighted the situation, and it seems that the unions have more say than the concessionaire. It is a serious problem that is affecting all of us at this moment," emphasized the head of the organization.
