Bolivia inaugurates Acheral-Choere highway to strengthen bioceanic corridor

The Government of Bolivia officially handed over the paved Acheral – Choere highway section, in the Gran Chaco Autonomous Region, a project considered strategic to consolidate the South Central Bioceanic Corridor and strengthen the country's direct connectivity with Argentina, Paraguay and Chile.

The event was attended by the Bolivian President, Rodrigo Paz Pereira; the Minister of Public Works, Mauricio Zamora; the Executive President of the Bolivian Road Administration (ABC), Ernesto Farfán; the highest municipal authorities of Entre Ríos, Caraparí and Villa Montes, as well as leaders of social sectors of the Gran Chaco.

The Minister of Public Works stressed that "fulfilling this project is a real demonstration of the Government's predisposition to make a hyperconnected country a reality. We are working on the entire road network and addressing the needs of the Chaco. Thanks to President Rodrigo's instruction, we promulgated the Supreme Decree that declares the construction of the Aguaragüe Tunnel a national priority (…). We are a Government with a plan and realities," affirmed Mauricio Zamora.

For his part, the executive president of the ABC, Ernesto Farfán, highlighted the geopolitical value of the road that extends from Hito BR to Hito 60, and reaffirmed that the decree will allow the completion of technical studies with environmental safeguards to manage the financing of the tunnel, for construction in 2027.
