The railway operator ArcticRail will begin its operations from the Port of Vuosaari (Finland). The service is expected to start its cargo transfers from the first week of August.
The information was confirmed on the Finnish maritime station's website, which stated that "The Port of Vuosaari has excellent transport connections, both by sea and by land. In addition, good opportunities for rail transport have been created: the port railway departs from the port's quays and terminals and joins the main railway line in Kerava."
Regarding the new operator, it was indicated that "ArcticRail Oy is a Finnish railway company founded in 2023, specializing in rail transport and vehicle rental throughout the Finnish railway network. Currently, the company focuses on complementing existing services and promoting the transport of heavy loads by rail instead of by road."
"Freight railway operators are responsible for heavy transport between industrial areas and Finnish ports. Ports manage their own railway network and service points. Port operators are responsible for loading and unloading goods at the Port of Vuosaari," the publication concluded.
