Non-copper, non-lithium exports from the Valparaíso Region totaled USD 1.349 million during the first six months compared to the same period last year. The region maintained a significant presence in international markets, with shipments to 114 destinations and an offering composed of 778 products.
The agricultural sector led regional shipments, with exports totaling USD 920 million. Among its main products sent to international markets, fresh grapes stood out with USD 347 million; fresh cherries (USD 108 million); fresh avocados (USD 99 million); and raisins (USD 43 million).
In the case of manufacturing, shipments totaled USD 141 million, with a growth of 5.5%. Among the exported products, gearboxes stood out with USD 39 million; self-adhesive paper, plastic sheets and films (USD 28 million); and petroleum derivatives (USD 23 million).
Meanwhile, the minerals sector registered shipments of USD 106 million, mainly driven by molybdenum, which accounted for USD 89 million in exports.
Likewise, services continue to show good performance, positioning the region in markets where solutions and innovation are sought.
"Thanks to the talent of our companies and the competitive quality of their offerings, we see that more and more markets prefer to contract services to improve industrial processes, generate greater efficiency in their logistics, or develop solutions in the field of mining operations. This sector exported USD 43 million during the first half and saw an increase of 6.2%," highlighted Ivo Sandoval, regional director of ProChile Valparaíso.
The main destinations for services were Switzerland, with USD 8 million; Argentina (USD 6 million); and the United States (USD 5 million).
Furthermore, Sandoval emphasized that "the work we carry out from our regional office will continue to promote the internationalization processes of local companies and support their needs, and along with this, we will advance in the diversification of destinations and value addition."
The main destination markets for regional exports were the United States (USD 301 million); China (USD 186 million); and Japan (USD 105 million).
