Qingdao Port, part of the Shandong Port Group (SPG), has added a new direct container service to Vietnam, thus expanding its maritime transport network in Southeast Asia.
At QQCTU, an MSC vessel loaded 611 TEUs of production and daily use products destined directly for the ports of Haiphong and Ho Chi Minh City. This operation marked the launch of Qingdao Port's new direct container service to Vietnam.
This route primarily handles exports from northern China's interior, reserving capacity for refrigerated and special containers destined for Vietnamese fruits, aquatic products, and electronic components on the return journey, facilitating smoother bidirectional trade between China and Vietnam.
Previously, many products from northern China to Vietnam had to be transshipped through southern ports, leading to uncertainty in delivery times and increased logistics costs. The new service directly connects northern ports with major port areas in northern and southern Vietnam, covering key trade markets and improving delivery efficiency.
This route is the fifteenth new container route that Qingdao Port has inaugurated this year and the fourth to Southeast Asia. Qingdao Port currently operates more than 50 routes in Southeast Asia, covering Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
For the inaugural voyage, QQCTU coordinated berths, quay cranes, and other shipyard equipment to ensure efficient vessel operations and stable schedules.
