Ilya Espino de Marotta to Assume Administration of the Panama Canal for the 2026-2033 Period

The Board of Directors of the Panama Canal Authority has appointed Ilya Espino de Marotta as the new administrator for the 2026-2033 period, making her the first woman to lead this interoceanic waterway. Espino de Marotta is a marine engineer graduated from Texas A&M University with over 40 years of experience at the Canal, including roles as deputy administrator and Chief Sustainability Officer.
