The Port Authority of Punta Arenas is monitoring the stranding of the offshore tug (RAM) Allipén, which occurred in the Barranco Amarillo sector, approximately 25 kilometers north of the Magellanic city.
The maritime authority received a report on the vessel's condition and dispatched a Maritime Police patrol to the scene, which confirmed that the ship had no one on board and showed no evidence of fuel spills or other polluting substances.
Furthermore, the institution indicated that a resolution will be issued granting a period of up to 30 days for the definitive removal of the tug, notwithstanding the efforts the owner may already be undertaking.
The Port Captain of Punta Arenas, Frigate Captain LT Fernando Diez Moreno, stated that in addition to deploying inspection personnel, a safety message was issued for vessels navigating in the vicinity of the sector.
"Now it is necessary to supervise the refloating maneuvers and verify that they are carried out safely, safeguarding both navigation safety and the protection of the aquatic environment," said Diez.
The maritime authority stated that it will continue to supervise the development of the maneuvers until the situation is normalized.
