A drone attack 20 nautical miles from the Russian port of Novorossiysk left three crew members seriously injured aboard the vessel Nadezhda.
According to the Turkish Maritime Authority, the ship was hit while covering the route between the Black Sea basin terminal and the Turkish port of Samsun.
The 22 seafarers, 13 of whom are Turkish nationals, were evacuated to Russia, including the three seriously injured.
Meanwhile, rescue teams attempted to control the active fire in the bow of the 48-year-old Ro-Ro vessel, which is 119 meters long and 18 meters wide.
The Nadezhda, Turkish-owned and flagged in Cameroon, is linked to the shipping company Kalyoncu Shipping (based in Samsun). The fire remained active on the vessel, while subsequent rescue efforts were limited due to the persistent risk of drones in the area.
The General Directorate of Maritime Affairs of Turkey confirmed the incident, while the ship's captain stated that the attack involved between six and seven drones and attributed it to Ukraine; however, no Russian or Ukrainian authority has yet issued an independent confirmation of responsibility for the incident.
