The Confederation of Port Workers of Chile (Cotraporchi) reached a national agreement aimed at progressively strengthening the remuneration conditions of contracted shift bonus workers associated with the organization.
Under this pact, starting with payments corresponding to the month of June, a permanent increase will be incorporated into the base salary of the beneficiary personnel.
Among the main benefits of this measure are the improvement of the value of the ordinary working hour, the increase in the value of the extraordinary hour, and the increase in calculation bases associated with remunerations and labor benefits.
Sergio Baeza, president of Cotraporchi, stated that "we consider it relevant to highlight that this agreement could have been postponed until the full entry into force of the working day reduction established by law. However, thanks to the work carried out and the willingness of the parties involved, it was decided to advance it, allowing workers to start perceiving the concrete effects of this permanent improvement in their remunerations".
"Therefore, we deeply value this advancement, the result of a national agreement promoted by our confederation, whose objective is to continue strengthening the wage and labor conditions of contracted shift bonus workers throughout the country," Baeza expressed.
"This agreement demonstrates that union organization, worker unity, and coordinated work at a national level continue to be fundamental tools to achieve concrete results and real benefits for the port sector," commented the head of Cotraporchi.
