CENTCOM Conducts Verification Boarding of Tanker Charminar in Arabian Sea

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported conducting verification boarding of tanker Charminar in the Arabian Sea on 25 July before allowing the vessel to continue its voyage.

CENTCOM said the operation formed part of the ongoing enforcement of the U.S. naval blockade against Iran. Since reinstating the naval blockade against Iran, US had redirected 12 commercial vessels attempting to reach Iran, disabled two that failed to comply, and boarded two to verify compliance with the blockade.

Charminar, is the 2005-built oil/chemical tanker sailing under the flag of Comoros. The vessel measures the length of 183 meters and 32.2 meters in width.
