Bad Weather Suspends Operations in Bio Bio Region Ports

Port operations continue to be interrupted in the maritime facilities of the Bio Bio Region. This situation is due to the bad weather front affecting the country's south-central zone and the swell warning issued by the Chilean Navy.

According to San Vicente Terminal Internacional (SVTI), located in Talcahuano, "by order of the Maritime Authority, the terminal remains closed, with no vessels at the dock and operations suspended."

Furthermore, the concessionaire reported that "SVTI continues to monitor the evolution of the storm and implement measures such as reducing the height of stockpiles, stabilizing cargo, and cleaning rainwater collectors."

Currently, according to the tracking site Marine Traffic, no vessels are docked at its piers. Additionally, based on the information available in its shipping schedule, SVTI - for now - has suspended its calls until the morning of Friday, July 17.

Regarding Puerto Coronel, it was indicated that "it has been able to maintain its operation normally. Our infrastructure and operational standards allow us to respond adequately to this type of event, always in coordination with the Port Captaincy and subject to the instructions determined by the Maritime Authority, safeguarding the safety of people, operations, and cargo at all times."

According to its shipping schedule data, Puerto Coronel will keep vessel arrivals suspended until the afternoon of July 17.

The same situation occurs at Puerto Lirquén, where vessels are expected to be received again on the same day, while Talcahuano Terminal Portuario (TTP) has no scheduled arrivals until Monday, July 20. Both facilities have empty docks.

The restrictions will remain in effect until they are lifted by the Maritime Authority.
