Virgin Voyages' Valiant Lady Arrives in Greenock for the First Time

Virgin Voyages' cruise ship Valiant Lady was welcomed for the first time at Greenock Cruise Port, commemorating the occasion with a traditional plaque exchange and a Scottish-style farewell. Representatives from the tourist terminal and the local community joined the captain and crew on board for the ceremony.

Its departure was equally memorable, as the Inverclyde Pipe Band played on the pier while passengers gathered on deck, before a Svitzer tugboat accompanied the ship from the dock with a spectacular water cannon escort along the River Clyde.

Allison McGuire, Head of Operations at Greenock Cruise Port, commented that "it was a real pleasure to welcome the Valiant Lady to Greenock for the first time. She is a beautiful and very fun ship, and she certainly managed to bring out the inner child in some of us when we went on board. What made the day especially significant was seeing so many partners and local community members involved."

"A successful cruise call is never the work of just one organization. There is an entire team working behind the scenes, often from very early in the morning, to ensure that ships and their passengers receive the best possible welcome," added McGuire.

Greenock Cruise Port also recognized the contribution of its partners throughout the 2026 season, including Mirren Marine, the Peel Ports operational team, OCS Security, Inverclyde Tourist Group, Swordfish Signs, and Terrazza del Clyde, along with Scott's restaurant at the terminal, which regularly welcomes international cruise passengers and visiting representatives.
