A demanding day took place at the International Passenger Terminal of the Port of Tyne in North Shields, England, where an inaugural cruise ship call, a turnaround call from another vessel, and the arrival of a passenger ferry were handled simultaneously.
Demonstrating the breadth of passenger operations that the terminal supports across the region, the site welcomed the Balmoral for turnaround operations, or a complete change of passengers to end one voyage and begin a new one. This was the twelfth of 17 scheduled visits to the port this year. The Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines vessel arrived at Northumbria Quay.
The Oceania Insignia also called at the British terminal for its first visit to the destination, docking at Whitehill Point. To commemorate the occasion, Port of Tyne Commercial Director, Craig Morton, and Events Executive, Amy Scott, joined Captain Stjepan Zuzic aboard the Oceania Cruises vessel for the traditional plaque exchange ceremony.
Completing the day's activity was the King Seaways of DFDS, which continued its daily service from the Port of Amsterdam and brought visitors and tourism to the region.
