The expansion of the arrival piers at Celebration Key, on the island of Grand Bahama, a private destination of Carnival Corporation, will allow for nearly 200 additional cruises and 700,000 more passengers each year. This expansion, the most significant in the sector, adds two new berths, enabling the destination to receive up to four ships simultaneously and welcome more than 13,000 tourists per day.
Starting from the original two-berth pier inaugurated in July 2025, the two additional berths were delivered ahead of schedule and double the arrival capacity to four ships at a time, expanding operational flexibility.
"Celebration Key is one of the jewels of our Paradise Collection: an innovative destination designed to redefine the Caribbean vacation experience. From a mile of white sand beach to the largest freshwater lagoons in the Caribbean and five unique experience portals, every corner of Celebration Key was designed to offer an unforgettable experience. Completing the pier expansion ahead of schedule gives us a considerable advantage in meeting the extraordinary demand we are experiencing and allows us to bring even more passengers to this unique Bahamian paradise sooner than expected," stated Josh Weinstein, CEO of Carnival Corporation.
Starting in September 2026, days with three or four ships will be common at the destination, and by the end of this year, Princess Cruises and AIDA will join the rotation, making Celebration Key a Caribbean platform that is part of the Carnival Corporation portfolio.
"The expansion of Celebration Key reflects continued confidence in Grand Bahama and in The Bahamas as a leading tourist destination. Our priority is to ensure that investments of this magnitude create significant opportunities for Bahamian businesses, expand employment, and provide lasting economic benefits to our people. We congratulate the Celebration Key team on their first anniversary and look forward to their continued contribution to the economy of Grand Bahama and the well-being of its communities," declared Glenys Hanna Martin, Minister of Tourism for The Bahamas.
"The Celebration Key pier expansion is a powerful endorsement of Grand Bahama's economic potential. Every ship that docks on our island creates opportunities for Bahamians, from entrepreneurs and small businesses to countless families who depend on a thriving tourism sector. This investment represents more than new infrastructure; it is an investment in our people, our economy, and a future based on sustainable and continuous growth," affirmed Ginger Moxey, Minister for Grand Bahama.
When Celebration Key celebrates its first anniversary on July 19, 2026, it will have received approximately 2.5 million visitors. With the pier expansion now completed, that number is expected to reach 3.5 million in the second year, a growth that will bring significant long-term benefits to The Bahamas.
According to an economic impact study conducted by Tourism Economics (an Oxford Economics company), the development, construction, and ongoing operation of Celebration Key are projected to create more than 2,500 direct jobs for Bahamians, generate USD 3.2 billion in additional government revenue, and contribute USD 9.7 billion to GDP over the next two decades.
