While cruising continued to grow across the region in 2025, the most exciting development was the continued expansion of the shoulder and winter seasons. Cruise Baltic saw a 33.2% increase in calls in Q4 compared to 2024. At the same time, Q1 was at historically high levels compared to just a few years ago.
The numbers reflect a growing interest in year-round Baltic itineraries and make sense when looking at general developments within the expedition and luxury cruise sectors. We are seeing growing interest from expedition and luxury operators in destinations that can offer deeper destination engagement, authentic experiences, local storytelling, sustainability and flexibility throughout the year. In Cruise Baltic, we see that Cruise lines are increasingly looking beyond the traditional peak-seasons and seeking destinations that can offer these qualities throughout the year. In that regard, we believe that cities and cultural destinations can play an important role alongside nature-based exploration, offering cruise guests a balance between discovering the unexpected and experiencing iconic destinations such as capital cities like Copenhagen and Stockholm.
This development is reflected in the overall growth of the Baltic cruise market. According to Cruise Baltic's latest Market Review, cruise guest volumes increased by 12.3% in 2025, while port calls rose by 12.8% and turnaround calls increased by 5.6% compared to 2024.
