The Ecuadorian Navy announced the reincorporation of the CN-235 AN-204 maritime patrol aircraft, after completing a comprehensive maintenance and technical recovery process at the Airbus Defence and Space facilities in Spain. Its return strengthens the surveillance capabilities of jurisdictional maritime spaces.
The aircraft passed airworthiness tests before returning to the country and will resume aeromaritime exploration, search and rescue missions, as well as the control of illicit activities at sea. The CN-235 stands out for its operational versatility and ability to operate from short or semi-prepared runways.
The reincorporation of this platform strengthens maritime security, the protection of sovereignty, and the monitoring of national maritime routes. Likewise, it strengthens response capabilities against drug trafficking, illegal fishing, and other threats affecting maritime trade and logistics.
